The 26th annual Chicano Youth Conference will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16 at California State University, Fresno from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

More than 1,600 students from throughout California are expected at the conference that is designed to expose high school and community college students to university life and higher education opportunities.

Assemblywoman Sarah Reyes and Dr. Michael Ortiz, Fresno State provost and vice-president of academic affairs, will welcome the students at 9 a.m. in the North Gym. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. also in the North Gym.

CYC chairperson Mary Lou Ramirez said the students will attend a college faire and career and general interest workshops featuring professionals from the community. Entertainment will also be provided.
