Preview Day will be held at California State University, Fresno on Saturday, March 13, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide applicants for the fall 1999 semester an opportunity to interact with faculty in a simulated classroom setting.

Sponsored by University Outreach Services, Preview Day will include academic workshops and information on such topics as financial aid, career services and housing.

“Fresno State is offering a unique experience for high school and community college transfer students to come and participate in a classroom setting that will be similar to what they will have as full time students,” said Bernie Vinovrski, assistant vice president for enrollment services. “By participating with Preview Day, students will be able to interact with faculty who will teach courses that day within their own majors.”

Lupe Maldonado, outreach counselor and the event’s coordinator, said the Preview Day is a follow-up to University Open House held in November, which targets prospective students before they have applied.

“Once students have applied, Preview Day is a service that can help them overcome obstacles that may prevent them from taking that last step into college,” Maldonado said.

She said that for the fall 1998 semester, the university received 12,261 applications and admitted 9,073. However 3,047 of the admitted students did not enroll.

“That is a figure that we hope to tackle through Preview Day,” said Maldonado, adding that students can still apply to attend classes at the university for the coming fall semester.
