An army CH-47 Chinook Helicopter will be landing on the California State University, Fresno campus Sunday, Oct. 21, between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the grassy area north of the North Gym.
Exiting the helicopter in full dress will be 29 ROTC cadets and one cadre member. They will be returning from a weekend Leadership Training Exercise (LTX) at Fort Hunter-Liggett where cadets participate in an obstacle course and various leadership activities.
“It is a training for them to gain confidence and leadership,” said Jeff Wilderboer, ROTC operations officer at Fresno State. The ROTIC is par of the Craig School of Business Military Science Department.
Upon arrival the cadets and their cadre will display how to protect a helicopter during take off through a “hot exit” formation. The helicopter is expected to be on campus for no more than 15 minutes.
University Police Department will control traffic at Barstow and Cedar Avenues. Army personnel will be at both the south and north end of the field to assist with crowd control.
The event is open for the public who may wish to attend.
