FresnoStateNews.com Earns CASE "Award of Distinction"

FresnoStateNews.com has just been honored by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education with an "Award of Distinction" in news and communication.

Fresno State's University Relations Office will be honored for its development of the Web site and the informational efforts supported by site at the CASE District VII Annual Conference on Dec. 8 in Anaheim.

Headquartered in Washington, DC, with an office in London, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education is the professional organization for advancement professionals at all levels who work in alumni relations, communications, and development.

CASE's membership includes more than 3,000 colleges, universities, and independent elementary and secondary schools in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and 42 other countries. CASE is the largest nonprofit education association in terms of institutional membership. The organization serves more than 38,000 advancement professionals on the staffs of member institutions and has more than 23,500 professional members.

FresnoStateNews.com will be honored for enhancing institutional stature and heightening media involvement. The award-winning Fresno State site will be displayed during the conference in the event's exhibit hall. The award was presented for the unique way Fresno State used the development of a news Web site to produce content for a wide variety of campus services and establish an organize a method of quickly collecting information across the campus and the community.

"I am pleased that FresnoStateNews.com was singled out for this honor by CASE." said Mark Aydelotte, the university's assistant vice president of university of relations. "The site has become an important source of information for our students, parents, alumni and the news media."

The FresnoStateNews.com site provides news updates from the campus several times each day, and supports several special Web services, such as the www.SaveMartCenter.com site, a collection of "Top Dog Web Sites," and "News Tips" about upcoming campus events. The site has attracted more than 740,000 visitors so far this year and recorded 5.5 million "hits.".
