A campus-wide tribute in memory of Col. Rick Husband has been set for Wednesday, Feb. 5 at noon on the California State University, Fresno campus, President John D. Welty announced today.

The event will be held at the the university's peace garden, and will include brief remarks from student and university representatives. The peace garden is located just north of the university's Madden Library.  People attending the event are asked to wear red clothing in honor of Col. Husband, an alumnus of Fresno State.

Today, a photo of the Fresno State alumnus and a sign-on board for those wishing to express their feelings will be set up on campus for the next few days in the Free Speech Area during the day and in the University Student Union at night.

The display will be set up between 11 a.m. and noon today in the speaker’s platform of the Free Speech Area, which is in the center of the campus west of the USU Building. It will be on display outside from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. then inside the USU in the evenings through this week.

In addition to the joint Air Force and Army ROTC taps ceremony held Saturday evening, other university observances have included moments of silence at the Bulldogs alumni baseball game and women's basketball games Saturday.

President Welty's statement was also read on the radio and television broadcasts of the men's basketball game played in Nevada on Saturday night.
