Fresno State Winemaster’s Weekend

Nearly 200 wine connoisseurs kicked off the “Fresno State Winemaster’s Weekend” last night (March 7) for a “meet and greet” with university Winemaster Kenneth Fugelsang in the lobby of Tenaya Lodge, hosts of the two-day event under way in the majestic Yosemite Park.

The weekend continues this afternoon at 1 p.m. in Salon 2 when Fugelsang, Fresno State’s world-renowned winemaster, and Frederick Clabaugh, Tenaya executive chef, conduct a wine-tasting seminar led by Fugelsang and a cooking demonstration by Clabaugh.

The highlight of the event, a five-course gourmet dinner on Saturday night at 7 p.m. (March 8), sold out Friday night.

Food products from Fresno State’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology will be prepared by Clabaugh.

Roland Henin, master chef and corporate chef for Delaware North Parks & Resorts, the worldwide parent company of the Tenaya Lodge, will present an overview of the meal as it is served.

More than 250 persons are expected for the second annual event in which the Four-Diamond resort and California State University, Fresno again team up to blend award-winning wines and gourmet food with the splendor of the Sierra Nevada.

The partnership began last year with the successful “Toast of the Sierra” dinner series featuring Fresno State wine and agricultural products.
