Memorial services for Dr. Harold Howard Haak, president emeritus of California State University, Fresno, will be Saturday, Jan. 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fresno.

Dr. Haak, who served as the university’s sixth president for 11 years until his retirement in 1991, died Friday.

Haak, 68, also served as president of Fresno Pacific University from 2000 to 2002. Haak began his Fresno State career when he served as academic vice president from 1971 to 1973. He served as chancellor of Chancellor of the University of Colorado at Denver from 1873 to 1980 before returning to Fresno to lead the CSU campus here in 1980.

He preceded current president, Dr. John D. Welty, who will be among the eulogizers at Saturday’s services.

St. Anthony’s Padua is at 5770 N. Maroa on the corner of Bullard Avenue. Arrangements are under the direction of Stephens & Bean Chapel.
