World famous archaeologist Dr. Brian Fagan will speak on “The Rape of the Nile” at California State University, Fresno at 7:15 p.m. Monday, May, 3 in University Center, room 200.

Fagan’s free lecture on the history of the discovery and removal of Egyptian artifacts will take the audience on an excursion into a long-vanished and romantic world, where tomb robbers were not afraid to go after their competitors with a gun, and where the stakes were royal tombs and international fame.

A Professor Emeritus of the University of California at Santa Barbara, Fagan has been published in numerous journals and has received several awards for his research and devotion to education.

The lecture is jointly sponsored by the Fresno County Archaeological Society/San Joaquin Chapter of the Archaeological Institute of America, the Central Sierra Historical Society and Fresno State’s College of Social Sciences, Anthropology Club and Geography Club.
