EDITORS: California State University, Fresno’s first commencement activities in the Save Mart Center begin Friday but today (May 20) the university planning committee is busy with rehearsals and other set-up if you are interested in advance stories.

The 93rd Commencement will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. but on Friday four events will be held beginning at 9 a.m. and running through the 7:30 p.m. Hooding Ceremony.

Today (Thursday May 20), the rehearsal schedule is as follows: Thursday 5/20 Commencement Rehearsals at Save Mart Center:

10:30 a.m. Alumni Association setting up kiosks with general gift merchandise

General sound equipment set up

1 p.m. Kremen School of Education rehearsal (no students. Planners reviewing set-up).

1 Trees arrive for Hooding Ceremony stage set up

2 University Marshals walk through

3 Two singers rehearse — sound check

3:30 ROTC Color Guard rehearsal

4 African American Recognition Celebration rehearsal (with all students)

6 Latino Commencement Celebration rehearsal (with all students)

5/20 at Smittcamp Alumni House:

Noon to 5 pm Formal portraits of grads by California Candids

Friday (5/21) — Final rehearsal activity at Save Mart Center

7 a.m. Deans Medallists
