Nov. 1, 2004 Contact: Tom Uribes (559) 278-5366 or 246-1717 Mechanical Engineering Competition Is Saturday (Nov. 6) At Fresno State The Introduction to Mechanical Engineering competition will be held at California State University, Fresno on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Mc Lane Hall, Room 121. Students from Fresno State, Fresno City College and College of the Sequoias and Reedley College will participate in the event, hosted by the Mechanical Engineering Department in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Teams of students compete against each other to design the most innovative machine that delivers pennies to a target, said Maria Sanchez, assistant professor in the Fresno State Mechanical Engineering Department. ”They employ unique and creative approaches to create their machines," Sanchez said. "The competition is a fun way to challenge the students to come up with clever and interesting approaches.” Local engineering firms Hydratech and California Manufacturing and Engineering Company are this year's event sponsors.
