Representative to State Senator Dean Florez, to Address Students;
20 Law School Representatives Expected, Special Workshops Planned
The 2005 Law Day Conference will be held at California State University, Fresno on Wednesday April 13, 2005 from 9:00am to 3:30 pm. The event, held at the USU and SSU, is being sponsored by the only pre-law club on campus, Chicanos in Law.
The Law Day Conference will feature the following speakers: In the SSU at 2 pm Susan Good, representing California Senator Dean Florez, Teresa DeAnda from Californians for Pesticide Reform (video shown), Enid Perez JD and professor at Fresno State.
Also, at 10 am, Matt Espinoza Watson CSU, Fresno alumni and Boalt Hall, Berkeley graduate will be speaking to students where free continental breakfast will also be provided to all: students, faculty, staff, administration, and conference participants.
The Law School Exhibit from 9-3 pm will consist of law school representatives set up on the south side patio of the USU with tables set up for students to receive free applications, pamphlets, information on student life, and other pertinent materials.
The Law Day Conference will also feature workshops on admissions, Title IX, financing law school, and one for minorities interested in law. These workshops will be in the USU 308 and 310 from 10:45 am to 1:30 pm.
The purpose of the Law Day Conference is to familiarize Fresno State students with the various aspects of law school. The conference has also been designed to allow students who would not otherwise be able to attend an out of town law forum the chance to get crucial information about applying to law school and financial aid. Some of the law schools that will be featured include UCLA, UC-Berkley, UC-Davis and UC-Hastings. Since 1978 this event has been held at Fresno State and sponsored by Chicanos in Law.
