New appointments to Fresno State academic family introduced

At Wednesday, August 17’s Academic Assembly for California State University, Fresno faculty and administrators, Dr. Jeronima Echeverria, provost and vice president of academic affairs, introduced the following individuals who will be holding permanent and interim academic positions this year (2005-06):


Dr. Vida Samiian, who was named Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities in April. 

Dr. Doug Hensler, who was named to be the first holder of the Sid Craig Deans Chair and Dean of the Craig School of Business in March

Dr. Luz Gonzalez, who was named Dean of the College of Social Sciences in April.

Dr. Dennis Nef
, who was named associate vice president and Dean of Undergraduate Studies.

Janette Redd Williams
, who was named interim associate vice president for Academic Personnel upon Tom Ebert’s retirement.

Tina Leimer
,  who was named director of Institutional Research.

Dr. Priscilla Chaffe-Stengel
, who has been given partial assigned time to serve as a Faculty Fellow in Institutional Research this year.  She will assist faculty as they strengthen their assessment implementation plans.

Dr. Ganesan Srinivasan
, who has been named director of the University Farm.

Roberto Gonzalez
, who is the new regional liaison from the USDA for the northern California region and will be working in our area to develop opportunities for our youth to serve in USDA careers.


Dr. Echeverria also introduced these new permanent and interim associate deans:
Dr. Jose Diaz - associate dean of the College of Arts and Humanities;
Dr. Robert Harper - associate dean of the Craig School of Business;

Dr. Kathleen Curtis
- interim associate dean of the College of Health and Human Services (while former associate dean Dr. Andrew Hoff serves as interim dean of the College of Engineering);

Dr
Karen Carey -  interim associate dean of the College of Science and Mathematics;

Dr. Mark Somma
-  interim associate dean of the College of Social Sciences.

Dr. Colleen Torgerson
- associate dean of the Kremen School of Education and Human Development.

The provost also welcomed 44 new faculty members to tenure track positions.
