3 faculty members win Coleman Fellowships

Three faculty members at California State University, Fresno have been named recipients of 2005-06 Coleman Fellowships. The awards were announced by the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Fresno State and the Coleman Foundation of Chicago.

The fellowships, which include stipends of $5,000 each, were awarded to:

  • Dr. Lynn Forsythe of the Department of Finance and Law for her course proposal “Law for Entrepreneurs”

  • Dr. James Mullooly of the Department of Anthropology for his course proposal “Applied Anthropology of Entrepreneurship”

  • Dr. Kurt Madden of the Department of Information Systems and Decision Sciences for his course proposal “Social Entrepreneurship.”

All three of the new courses will be offered at Fresno State for the first time in spring 2006.

In addition to the stipend, each faculty member receives a funded trip to Syracuse University in New York to attend The Experiential Classroom, Sept. 15-18. The Experiential Classroom brings together faculty and practitioners from across the country, offering a core set of clinics dedicated to sharing leading-edge teaching practices and enhancing teaching skills.

The award also includes a funded trip to the Unites States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship conference, which will be held in Tucson, Ariz., in January.
