KFSR 90.7 launches business radio program ‘The Pulse’

Fresno State’s non-commercial radio station, 90.7 KFSR, will launch a new weekly business roundtable program called The Pulse, on Saturday Oct. 22.

The hour long program will also be available via streaming audio and as a podcast online at www.kfsr.org.

The show will be hosted by Tom Jones of Worx Consulting; Lee Lockhart, executive editor of The Business Journal, the San Joaquin Valley’s weekly business newspaper; and Dr. Timothy Stearns, director of the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Fresno State.

The Pulse will feature discussion about important local issues, business news and trends, interviews with local business and political leaders, and much more. The Business Journal will supply the news content for the program.

Jones, Lockhart and Stearns formerly hosted the Valley Business Roundtable on the now-defunct KMPH news radio. The Pulse builds upon that tradition with a new, faster paced format, and online content, said Joe Moore, KFSR station manager.

“The Pulse will be the only local radio or television program dedicated to issues facing the local business community,” Moore said.

Topics on the program will range from discussions of major “big picture” issues facing the Valley, current efforts at job growth and economic diversification, tips on entrepreneurship, innovative new industries and businesses that call the San Joaquin Valley home, and more.

“There’s a lot of change taking placing in the Fresno area right now, much of it for the better, and we’re very excited to be able to provide a forum to discuss those changes, and what’s happening in the local business community,” he said. “I think The Pulse will appeal even to people who wouldn’t normally think of listening to a business program, because it’s really about issues that impact all of us. Tom, Lee and Tim have a great rapport and chemistry in the studio, and really make a talking about business entertaining and lively.”

While The Pulse will deal with many serious issues, it will also be a dynamic and entertaining program, said host Tom Jones.

“Our intention is to entertain, inform and inspire the audience by bringing them up to speed on the local business scene while making the show a fun experience for the guests, hosts and listeners alike,” Jones said.

Dr. Tim Stearns of the Lyles Center says that the program will play an important role in the community.

“The Pulse is a great addition to the community conversation about innovation and entrepreneurship,” Stearns said. “As a Valley that is maturing in so many ways, to have a progressive station that can reach the tens of thousands of creative and knowledge workers in the region is a big step forward. Let's celebrate what we are accomplishing as a community and continue to move forward in making the Central Valley the most exciting place to live in California.”
