Valley Public Television’s 'Valley Press' comes to 90.7 KFSR

The Valley Press, the long-running local public affairs program hosted by Fresno State journalism professor Jim Tucker on KVPT Ch. 18, will hit the radio airwaves on 90.7 KFSR, Fresno State’s university based non-commercial radio station beginning Saturday October 22.

KFSR is teaming with Valley Public Television to broadcast Valley Press. The radio version will air twice weekly on 90.7 KFSR on Saturdays at 1 p.m., and Sundays at 11 a.m. Valley Public Television airs the television program Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 11 a.m.

Valley Press was created in 1989as a "local meet the press" public affairs program to respond to current issues, news makers and politicians on a weekly basis. More than 450 shows have been produced.

Now in its sixteenth year, Valley Press brings valley viewers a weekly array of news makers and reporters discussing the top news story of the week. Guests have included California legislators, members of Congress, the Governor of California, the state's treasurer, the vice president of the United States, and a member of the British House of Lords.

Tucker has been practicing the fine art of moderating between reporters and news makers from local to national prominence on Valley Press for over 15 years. In addition, Tucker produces and moderates political debates and local specials. A member of the Fresno State journalism faculty since 1968, his areas of expertise include media writing, news reporting, editing, mass media and society, and broadcast news. Tucker has worked as a newspaper reporter, radio newsman/ announcer, and magazine editor.

Oscar Speace is the producer/director and creator of Valley Press.  Speace is a TV producer/director and writer with over 20 years experience in commercial and noncommercial television. He is also a screen writer and playwright.
