Chicano Youth Conference 2006 is Jan. 14 at Fresno State

The 33rd annual Chicano Youth Conference at California State University, Fresno will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Onsite registration for the event, sponsored by the student organization Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán (MEChA), begins at 8 a.m. in the Satellite Student Union (2485 E. San Ramon Ave.).

The conference features career and interest workshops along with a college resource fair, and a student panel.

Earlier this month, Fresno State was among 19 CSU campuses named as "Publisher's Picks" by Hispanic Outlook In Higher Education. The Publisher's Picks is an annual national list of colleges and universities that the publication sees as having solid records in recruiting, enabling and graduating Hispanic students. The standings are based upon formal and informal inquires as well as data from the National Center for Education Statistics.
