The New Valley InForum will explore how to use the Web for social change with Tiffany Shalin, the Internet expert on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” on Feb. 16.

The program will begin with networking at 6 p.m. followed by discussion at 6:30 p.m. at the Memorial Auditorium in downtown Fresno.

Shlain is an outspoken and articulate commentator on media, design, Internet culture and technology. She regularly appears on television and radio as an expert commentator on Internet issues, discussing topics focusing on the Web’s effect on the way people work, play, love, learn and live.

Honored as one of Newsweek’s “Women Shaping the 21st Century,” she is founder and chairperson of “The Webby Awards” and is an award-winning filmmaker. She has directed 10 films, including, “Life, Liberty & The Pursuit of Happiness,” an official selection at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival.

Supported by the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at California State University, Fresno, New Valley InForum helps recognize the importance of creating an atmosphere that will attract a bright, talented and young workforce.

Tickets are $15 general admission and $10 for students. A VIP reception hosted by Fresno Design Alliance will immediately follow the program and costs $10.
