German archaeologist will speak March 6 on campus

The Fresno County Archaeological Society/San Joaquin Valley Chapter, Archaeological Institute of America will meet Monday, March 6, at 7 p.m. in the Alice Peters Auditorium in the University Business Center at California State University, Fresno. “Art and War at the Achaemenid Court” will be discussed by Dr. Michael Roaf, a professor of Near Eastern Archaeology at Munich University in Germany.
 
Parking will be relaxed in the University Business Center (UBC) lot.

Roaf’s talk will cover more than two decades of work at archaeological sites of ancient Persia and Mesopotamia (modern Iran and Iraq), particularly his research on Assyrian and Persian sculptures.

The Fresno State Department of Geography, the College of Social Sciences, and the San Joaquin Valley Chapter of the Archaeological Institute of America are co-sponsors of the program.
