Forensic Science program director Eric Person recognized by national academy

Dr. Eric Person, an assistant professor of chemistry and director of the Forensic Science program at California State University, Fresno, has received an award from the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. 
 
As an expert in the investigation of illicit drug labs, Person was recognized for his excellent video presentation on a new method being used for the illegal production of methamphetamine. The award is given by the national association for regional work.  The northwest region selected Person for the award as the best presentation at its regional meeting.
 
Person joined the Fresno State faculty in June 2005. Previously he worked as a forensic scientist with the Washington State Patrol Crime Laboratory Division from 2001-05. His
research interests are clandestine laboratory investigations and the diversion of pharmaceuticals, and enhancement of forensic chemistry education resources.
 
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Carleton College in 1995, a doctorate from the University of California, San Francisco in 2001 and an MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2005.
 
The American Academy of Forensic Sciences, a nonprofit professional organization, was founded in 1948. Its nearly 6,000 members are divided into 10 sections spanning the forensic enterprise. Included among the academy's members are physicians, attorneys, dentists, toxicologists, physical anthropologists, document examiners, psychiatrists, physicists, engineers, criminalists, educators and others.
