Edward Diener, a 1968 graduate of California State University, Fresno and a professor of psychology at the University of Illinois, will be featured Tuesday, April 4, in the University Lecture Series.

He will speak on “A Science of Happiness” at 7:30 p.m. in the Satellite Student Union, 2485 E. San Ramon Ave.

Diener was described by Time magazine as “a.k.a. Dr. Happiness.” He is editor of the Journal of Happiness Studies and past president of the International Society of Quality of Life Studies and the Society of Personality and Social Psychology. He has written extensively on his subject.

He has received a Fresno State Distinguished Alumni Award and other awards, including the 2000 distinguished Researcher Award from the International Society of Quality Life Studies.

The University Lecture Series is a program of the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Additional support is provided by Coke and James Hallowell, the University Student Union, the Associated Students, Piccadilly Inn hotels, and KJWL-FM. This lecture is made possible by an endowment gift to the High Point Foundation in memory of Dr. Viola Davis and Millicent Collinsworth.

Tickets are $10 general admission; $6 Fresno State faculty, staff, Alumni Association members and seniors; $5 elementary and secondary students; and $2 Fresno State students. Prices on April 4 increase by $2 for general admission, faculty, staff and Alumni Association members.
