Fresno State students, along with Bulldog student-athletes, are on the corners around campus today helping sell newspapers for the “kids day” project to benefit the Children’s Hospital of Central California.

Sponsored by The Fresno Bee and ABC 30, volunteers sell newspapers from Merced to Porterville. The $1.00 paper is a special edition of The Bee featuring fascinating stories about the kids who are helped by Children’s Hospital. Proceeds go straight into medical care. Supporters may buy as many papers as they want or donate more than $1.

Fresno State has been the top selling site for three years, reports campus coordinator, Trisha Studt, who is the Community Partnerships Coordinator in the Office of Civic Engagement and Service-Learning.

“Last year more than 450 individuals from all over campus helped to raise over $22,000 for this important cause,” she said, adding that, since its beginning, the overall kids day has raised almost $2 million for Children’s Hospital Central California.

This year, 25 Fresno State organizations signed up to sell papers, as well as many representatives of nearly all the Bulldogs athletics teams.

”We encourage the campus community, and the public, to buy from Fresno State students when you see them on our corners,” Studt said.

Sales will go until 3:30 p.m. They may also be purchased at the project distribution center behind (east of) Joyal Building. For more information: 278.7079.
