Registration is under way for Dog Days Fall 2006, a series of 16 orientation sessions during the summer for incoming students at California State University, Fresno.

Dog Days is open to new freshmen and transfer students who will attend the university in the fall 2006 semester and to their parents and guests. The one-day sessions, which begin June 2 and end Aug. 3, provide incoming students with opportunities for academic advising and registration assistance.

All undergraduates are expected to attend orientation, said Dog Days coordinator Barbara Benedict, director of the Office of Advising Services in the Division of Student Affairs.

Academic advisers from each college or school will be available at Dog Days to discuss completion of general education and major academic requirements. Faculty and student leaders will be on hand to answer questions and give insight into campus life.

In addition to academic advising, each session offers a career services presentation, a campus resource fair, a preloan counseling workshop and campus tours. A multimedia presentation emphasizes the importance of getting involved in campus activities.

Parents are invited to attend a special orientation session planned to answer questions about academics and cocurricular opportunities for students. and to address issues parents may face as their son or daughter transitions through the university.

Check-in for each session begins at 7 a.m. at the Satellite Student Union. Each day’s program runs from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The available dates are June 2, 12, 14, 16, 20, 22, 26 and 29; July 11, 13, 19, 21, 25 and 27; August 1 and 3. (See breakdown by major below).
