The Addams statue in the Peace Garden will be dramatically lighted and unveiled during a major university function with President Welty and the
president of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom of which Addams was the first president.
What: Dinner and program starting at 5:30 p.m, in the Madden Library (enter
through Atrium doors and proceed to north end of the building. Park in Lot D or E, south of the Library.

Backgrnd: The bronze sculpture depicts Addams lifting aloft a small, immigrant child
holding a globe. The sculpture was cast at Arizona Bronze Atelier in Tempe, Ariz. It sits on a black granite base etched with images from Addams’ life.
