issues at a symposium beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Backgrnd: Fresno State faculty present research on key concerns in the central San Joaquin Valley: immigration (Xuanning Fu), housing (Matthew A. Jendian), children’s health (Virginia Rondero Hernandez), public health (John A. Capitman) and overview of regional quality of life (Ed Nelson). All will be

available for interviews at conclusion of luncheon around 1 p.m.

Carol Whiteside, president of the Great Valley Center, will speak at 12:20 p.m. about the importance of academic research in addressing quality-of-life issues throughout the region. She will be available for interviews at conclusion of luncheon around 1 p.m.
