Jennifer Reimer, the 2005-06 president of the Associated Students at California State University, Fresno, is one of three final candidates for appointment by Gov. Schwarzenegger as the next California State University student trustee.

The California State Student Association, which conducted the search for a new trustee, recommended Reimer and a student from Cal State Northridge and Sacramento State to the governor, who is expected to make the selection soon.

The new student trustee will succeed Corey Jackson of CSU-San Bernardino, whose two-year term expires June 30. The other student trustee, Andrew La Flamme of CSU-Stanislaus, assumes the one vote CSU students hold on the board. The student trustee appointed this year, moves into the voting position next year.

In addition to her duties as Fresno State student body president, Reimer is chair of the California State Student Association, which represents the 405,000 students enrolled in the 23-campus CSU system.

She will be honored at Fresno State’s 95th Commencement on Saturday, May 20, as a Dean’s Medalist from the Division of Student Affairs. She will receive bachelor’s degrees in business administration and music performance.

A Bullard High School (Fresno) graduate, Reimer was a Smittcamp Family Honors College Scholar and played clarinet in the President’s Quintet for five years. She was elected a senator and vice president of finance for the Associated Students, before winning the presidency.

Reimer’s community service efforts have included fund raising for Children’s Hospital Central California in Madera and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
