The 25th annual African American Student Recruitment Conference at California State University, Fresno will be convened Feb. 2 for high school students and Feb. 23 for middle school students.

The free sessions, sponsored by University Outreach Services, begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Satellite Student Union and end at 2 p.m. Parents are invited to attend. Registration deadline for both events is Jan. 26.

With the theme “Think College, Think Fresno State,” the gatherings will address how students can survive the first year at college, financial aid, planning for the future and facing adversity, said Tanya Crabb, outreach counselor and event organizer.

Special guest performances will be presented by the Pearly Grove Baptist Church Stomp Team and the Young Adult Praise Dance Team. A scene from the Fresno State Theatre Arts Department’s production of “Intimate Apparel” by Lynne Nottage will be performed at the high school conclave. The Fresno State Gospel Choir will perform at the middle school conference.
