Fresno State will host FFA students

The College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at California State University, Fresno will host the 2007 Mid Winter Field Day and State Finals on Feb. 3 for about 300 California members of the National FFA Organization.

The career-development event will take place in the Agriculture building, the Viticulture and Enology Research Center and the fruit tree orchard beginning at 8 a.m. An awards ceremony will be at 2 p.m. in the Animal Science Pavilion.

FFA members will compete for individual and team state champion titles in citrus state finals, tree and grape vine pruning.

The College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology and FFA Field Day Committee host more than 20 state FFA finals contests annually that attract about 2,500 students.

FFA is a national youth organization begun as the "Future Farmers of America" in 1928 in Kansas City, Mo.
