Fresno State Wellness Ambassadors

With the mission to promote balance and vitality for life, the 2007 “Wellness Challenge” will begin Feb. 14 at California State University, Fresno.

A kickoff celebration will be held at 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 14 in the Free Speech Area. Students, faculty and staff may participate in activities listed on the Wellness Activity Calendar. Registration for the challenge is under way and will continue until midnight on Feb. 14.

The challenge ends April 25.

The Wellness Challenge is organized by Fresno State’s new Wellness Services program for students. Working with the campus Life Work Links programs, many of the services also will be available to faculty and staff. The Challenge is sponsored by California State Automobile Association, Blue Cross of California and University Food Services.

In addition to the clinical services provided by University Health and Psychological Services (Student Health Center), the Wellness Services program offers one-on-one nutrition counseling, alcohol education, nutrition education and wellness self-assessments.

A group of Wellness Ambassadors, students who are peer educators and role models for fellow students at Fresno State, also has been established. Ambassadors plan wellness activities/events and develop leadership skills. In addition, Wellness Ambassadors have the opportunity to enhance their personal wellness through trainings, weekly projects and self-assessments.
