Longtime Fresno community photographer and attorney Howard K. Watkins is donating his photographic archive to the Henry Madden Library at California State University, Fresno.

The collection of more than 150,000 photographs is the largest of its kind and documents much of the greater Fresno area over the last 30 years.

It includes photographs of elected officials at all levels of government, community and business leaders, members of the state and federal judiciary and legal community, athletes, historical buildings, celebrities, numerous community events, parades, political rallies and more.

The Madden Library plans to have the 120,000 film negatives professionally digitized and to make those photographs, as well as the more recent 30,000-plus digital photographs, available on the Web. Taken as a whole, the collection offers an unprecedented panorama of life in the Fresno area in modern times.
