The College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of California State University, Fresno will present its 14th annual Red Wave Classic Junior Livestock Show on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 10 and 11.

The show will be held at the Livestock Pavilion at the Big Fresno Fairgrounds in southeast Fresno (1121 S. Chance Ave., between Butler and Kings Canyon avenues).

The California Junior Livestock Association sanctions the show, which will begin with steer showmanship at 9 a.m. Saturday and culminate with a steer show at 1 p.m. Sunday events begin at 9 a.m. with heifer showmanship and conclude with hog showmanship at 10 o’clock.

Fresno State agriculture students plan and host the event, including the Red Wave

Sale, through the Animal Science Department’s marketing and show management class. In addition to providing the students experience, the event serves as a recruiting activity for the department and college, said Dr. Randy Perry, animal science professor.

“And guests will get the opportunity to see some of the best livestock in the western United States, shown by some of the best livestock youth exhibitors in the entire country,” Perry said.

The show’s sponsor is Farmers Feed, based in Keyes with distributors throughout the state.
