Phi Kappa Phi Honors society, the largest and most selective national honor society, will add 190 members at California State University, Fresno at a ceremony Wednesday, April 25.

The event will take place in the Satellite Student Union. Registration begins at 5 p.m. and the program starts at 6 p.m.

Scholarships will be awarded to Fresno State students Marquis Matson and Taylor Harris. Jeanette Conery will be introduced as Fresno State’s nominee for the national Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship award.

Honorary memberships will be granted to several individuals for their lifetime achievement and contributions to academics. Honorary initiates include James Hallowell, Coke Hallowell, Charles Arokiasamy, Steven White, Paul Oliaro and Francine Oputa.

Founded in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi honors outstanding academic achievement in all academic disciplines. Its chapters are on nearly 300 campuses in the United States, Puerto Rico and the Philippines. Each year, approximately 30,000 members are initiated.
