The Henry Madden Library at California State University, Fresno has replaced its online catalog system with a dynamic new system called Millennium.

Millennium is used at more than 4,500 libraries worldwide and known for its ease of use, intuitive design, flexibility and customizing of searches.

Hye Ok Park, head of Library Technology, said Millennium helps users to quickly find all types of library materials and features an advanced search option for in-depth querying. Requesting materials with Millennium is a fast, simple process, she said, and a personalized “My Library” option can be customized by each user.

The old online system, ALIS, had been used at Fresno State for 15 years.

The first phase of Millennium was implemented earlier this month. Library staff will continue to bring up other services to make the searching and finding of full-text journal articles and Internet resources seamless and transparent, Park said.

Plans call for implementation of a user-initiated interlibrary loan system called Link+ (Link plus). It will make over 20 million titles of library materials held by more than 50 libraries in California available to Fresno State students and faculty.
