Bryan Moe has been named director of the Central California Small Business Development Center (SBDC) operated by the Craig School of Business at Fresno State.

The center, which has offices in Manchester Center and at the Visalia Chamber of Commerce in Visalia, serves startup and existing businesses in Fresno, Kings, Madera, and Tulare counties with free counseling, workshops and seminars.

“The SBDC is a great asset to the Craig School of Business allowing us to engage with the small business community, which is an essential part of our regional economy and the creation of jobs,” said Dr. Douglas Hensler, dean of the of the Craig School of Business.

Since its establishment in 1992, it has helped launch 158 new businesses, assisted in creating more than 600 jobs and helped secure $96.7 million in loans. SBDC also provided nearly 40,500 consulting hours and services to 7,200 clients. The center’s funding partners allow services to be provided free.

The center is a partnership among the U.S. Small Business Administration, the University of California at Merced and the Craig School.

Areas of consulting include business loan packaging, marketing and advertising, strategic business planning, cash flow management, business expansion, export/import, government procurement and business structure.

Moe, who has 25 years of business experience, previously was a business consultant with the Visalia office. He is a graduate of Fresno State (bachelor’s degree and MBA from the Craig School) and a former intern with the center.

He has served on the UC Merced SBDC Regional Network Accreditation Team and is a member of the Tulare County Economic Development Corporation’s Business Response Team. He has been a facilitator and judge for Fresno State’s Institute for Family Business and a trainer for Naval Air Station Lemoore’s Business Workshop for mid- and senior-level personnel leaving the military.

Moe is a member of numerous organizations devoted to entrepreneurship and microenterprise development and has been a guest speaker, teacher and facilitator at numerous community organizations and events.

He succeeds interim director Tom Burns, a Fresno State faculty member.
