Chick-fil-A, the second-largest chicken restaurant chain in the country with more than 1,335 locations in 37 states, has opened its first central San Joaquin Valley restaurant in the University Student Union Food Court at California State University, Fresno.
The restaurant opened earlier this month for service and plans a formal ribbon-cutting grand opening at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2.
Festivities will include a “first bite ceremony” attended by university administrators and representatives from Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A Inc., including Andrew Cathy, grandson of Chick-fil-A founder Truett Cathy. The chain’s mascot, the Chick-fil-A Cow® will also make an appearance.
David Binkle, director of University Dining Services at Fresno State, the licensed operator of the new Chick-fil-A restaurant, said the restaurant provides take-away service. “We are very excited about the opening of this new concept because of the integrity of the brand and quality of its product,” Binkle said.
Casey Meadows, who operates the Hidden Valley Parkway Chick-fil-A restaurant in Corona, will serve as operator consultant to the new location.
“We’re excited that Fresno State has chosen to add Chick-fil-A to its dining options,” said Meadows. “The university’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of excellence compliments Chick-fil-A’s reputation in the quick service industry – providing the freshest ingredients possible.”
Chick-fil-A became the first-ever title sponsor of the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in 1997. The game officially changed its name to the Chick-fil-A Bowl in 2006.
The Fresno State restaurant is open 7 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. It is open to the public.
