California State University, State is asking the community to join an effort to tackle hunger in the Central Valley by donating non-perishable foods at Saturday’s (Nov. 3) home football game.

The Fresno State football team, in conjunction with the Community Food Bank, Sierra-Pacific Orthopedic Center and Department of Management in the Sid Craig School of Business, is promoting the food drive at the game. Donations will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. by volunteers in bright yellow shirts who will be at all seven entrance gates and in the parking areas.

On the campus, a universitywide food drive is under way and will continue until Friday, Nov. 2. Canisters have been placed at various campus locations for food drop-offs.

The Community Food Bank will distribute these donations to more than 170 food agencies in the Central Valley. Any non-perishable food donations are welcomed. Donated items could include canned goods; packaged rice, pasta and cereal; baking items such as oil, flour and sugar; and plastic jars of juice and peanut butter.
