California State University, Fresno students will distribute free energy efficient light bulbs to Bulldog fans at the Fresno State vs. Utah State football game on Nov. 3 and at the men’s and women’s basketball games on Nov. 4.
“This is a community-wide effort to go green,” said Millie Tang, a student organizer in one of the two Mass Communication and Journalism classes launching the Get Caught Green Handed Energy Campaign.
The Energy Bulldogs, students dedicated to spreading awareness and knowledge about energy conservation, will be giving out 40,000 light bulbs donated by Pacific Gas & Electric Co.
Attendees can receive their light bulbs as they enter parking lots surrounding the Bulldog Stadium including red, blue, yellow, gray, white and green lots at Saturday’s football game, and at the Save Mart Center parking lot at Sunday’s basketball games.
The light bulb giveaway kicks off “Green Week,” dedicated to raising awareness while encouraging students to recycle, conserve and go green.
“Fresno State is moving toward a green campus in several ways: using solar power, providing alternative transportation for students and planning for environment-friendly building options and strategies,” MCJ professor Jan Edwards. “Fresno State students are active, involved and willing to make the personal commitment to improve their campus – making a difference one light bulb at a time.”
