A mix of faculty, student and guest-artist performances fills November’s musical, drama and dance calendar at California State University, Fresno.

The Fresno Community Chorus’ Master Chorale and Coro Piccolo will perform three concerts Nov. 10 and 11 in the Concert Hall at the Music Building under the direction of Anna Hamre, an associate professor of music.

One is for children at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 10 with the Bach Children’s Choir, which includes a book giveaway. The other performances are at 8 p.m. Nov. 10 and 3 p.m. Nov. 11, featuring John Rutter’s “Wind in the Willows” and Morten Lauridsen’s “Lux Aeterna.”

The Fresno Community Chorus is a diverse group of volunteer singers from Fresno and surrounding communities, including several from the Fresno State music community.

Also scheduled in November:

Nov. 16 – Czech piano virtuoso Paul Badura-Skoda playing works by Haydn, Beethoven, Martin and Schumann at 8 p.m. in the Concert Hall as part of the Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concert Series.

Nov. 16-17 – Fresno State’s Experimental Theatre Company performing “A Lie of Mind,” Sam Shepard’s twisted tale of dysfunctional families. Presentations will be in the Lab School 101 Theatre.

Nov. 17-18 – An opera workshop in the Wahlberg Recital Hall.

Nov. 18 – A concert by the Clendenin Brass Quintet, the Fresno State Department of Music’s scholarship brass group.

Nov. 19 – The Band Spectacular, featuring Fresno State’s Jazz Band “A,” the Wind Orchestra and the entire Bulldog Marching Band in concert.

Nov. 26 – A percussion studio recital.

Nov. 28 – The student Guitar Ensemble in concert.

Nov. 29 – The student Flute Ensemble performing solo and ensemble selections.

Nov. 29-Dec. 1 – The University Dance Theatre’s presentation, “Emerging Choreographers 2007,” featuring original work by Fresno State students.

Nov. 30 – A faculty guitar recital with Corey Whitehead.
