Two top-notch musical events will be presented in January at California State University, Fresno.
The Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concerts and the American Guild of Organists’ San Joaquin chapter will host organist Mary Preston in concert at 3 p.m. Jan. 13 in the Concert Hall.
Preston will play works by Walton, Walther, Franck, Doppelbauer, Ives, Widor, Vierne and Mendelssohn.
She is the resident organist and principal with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. She also directs worship and artistic ministries and is the organist at University Christian Church in Fort Worth, Texas.
She has played in recitals and with orchestras throughout the United States, Europe and Asia and is a regular performer with the Dallas Wind Symphony. Her work has been heard on National Public Radio’s “Pipedreams” program and she has received plaudits for her albums on the Gothic and Naxos labels.

On Jan. 18, the Fresno State Trumpet Festival will blend guest-artist performances, master classes and ensemble experiences at 6:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall.
Department of Music faculty members Dr. Michael Caldwell and Lloyd Ellis are organizing the event, designed to give trumpet players new insights on their art.
