The Downing Planetarium at California State University, Fresno will hold a special event on Wednesday, Feb. 20, that celebrates the total lunar eclipse.

At 6:30 p.m., the planetarium will premiere of its new show, “Moonbound 2020.” This program chronicles the history of NASA’s manned space flight program, focuses on the many space shuttle missions and looks at the plan to put humans back on the Moon by 2020.

During the eclipse, the Moon will turn a deep shade of red as it passes into the Earth’s shadow. Members of the Central Valley Astronomers organization will be outside the planetarium with their telescopes for public viewing of the phenomena. The total phase of the eclipse will last from 7:01 p.m. until 7:50 p.m.

Tickets are required for the show only; eclipse viewing is free. Public show tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for seniors. For children and students (with student ID), tickets are $2.50.
