The First Nations Traditional Pow Wow will be held 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Satruday, April 26, at the Maple Mall on the California State University, Fresno campus as part of First Nations Week.

Fresno State’s First Nations American Indian Student Organization is presenting the pow wow, which is free and open to the public. The Maple Mall is the area south of the Satellite Student Union and the lawn area to the west, the site of the annual Vintage Days.

The Grand Entry is at noon. Arts and crafts, American Indian foods, Indian tacos and information booths will be featured at the event.

Performing will be the Oaxacan Dance Group, the Aztec Dance Group and the Tuolumne Mewuk Dancers.

The master of ceremonies is singer and instrumentalist Cornel Pewewardy, who is Comanche and Kiowa and enrolled as a member of the Comanche Tribe of Oklahoma.

Also participating are representatives of the Chumash, Western Mono, Ute, Mono (Dunlap Band), Yokut (Tule River and Tachi) and Paiute tribes and performances by the Northern Drum West Coast Singers of Bakersfield and the Southern Drum Hummingbird Singers of North Fork.
