California State University, Fresno is welcoming more than 22,000 students to the start of the 2008-09 academic year with an inspiring national championship in baseball just two months ago and a year of substantial change just ahead. In this 98th academic year since the university's founding as Fresno Normal School in 1911, the biggest news is the opening of the greatly expanded Henry Madden Library, scheduled for January 2009.
