Many companies that contributed workers and goods for Fresno’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” house or helped the other volunteers on the project have alumni and other ties to California State University, Fresno.

The university itself is one of the major partners with De Young Properties, which organized the effort to build a new house in a week for Mary Ann Riojas and her four teenaged children. De Young is a participant in Fresno State’s Construction Management Program within the Lyles College of Engineering, which supplied some of the volunteers who worked on the construction.

“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” which has won back-to-back Emmy awards as Best Reality Program (noncompetitive), is in its sixth season on ABC and also is aired in nearly 70 countries outside the United States. The program is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. Anthony Dominici is the executive producer and David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA.
