Dance and photography lectures are in the spotlight of the CSU Summer Arts program July 15, at California State University, Fresno.

Susan Milestone (photo by Tony Sweet)Deborah Hay (photo by Jeff Forbes)Susan Milestone, a fine-art photographer and printmaker whose images are displayed in galleries across the nation, is acclaimed in the United States and Canada for her work and for her instructive workshops with Tony Sweet. Her lecture begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Conley Lecture Hall in the Phebe Conley Art Building at Fresno State.

Deborah Hay, an acclaimed choreographer, will compare two performances of her solo piece, “Beauty,” during a lecture beginning at 8 p.m. at the John Wright Theatre in the Speech Arts Building on campus. Hay began her career as a dancer, then became a choreographer, always with an eye toward combining contemporary dance with other media.

Tickets to Milestone’s lecture are $7-$10. Admission to Hay’s lecture and dance demonstration costs $10-$20. Tickets can be purchased noon-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday at the Fresno State Box Office in the Speech Arts Building, online at www.csusummerarts.org or by phone at 559.278.5109.

CSU Summer Arts is a program of classes taught by visual, performing, musical and written arts masters who also participate in public presentations and performances throughout each two-week session. This is the 11th straight summer Fresno State has hosted the program presented by the California State University system.
