The Fresno Community Chorus, directed by Fresno State music professor Dr. Anna Hamre, will hold auditions for new singers in all voice parts Aug. 16-20 at the Music Department Concert Hall at California State University, Fresno.

Interested individuals may contact Hamre starting Aug. 16 by calling 559.278.2539 or by e-mail atahamre@csufresno.edu. Each singer must prepare a short piece (even a hymn tune) and bring sheet music to the audition.

The chorus’ regular rehearsals are 7:30-9:40 p.m. Tuesdays beginning in August. The winter concert on Nov. 21 features Joseph Haydn’s masterpiece oratorio “The Creation.” In summer 2011, the chorus will travel to Italy.

Fresno Community Chorus is a diverse group of volunteers from Fresno and surrounding communities. The 100-plus singers are from all walks of life in addition to professional musicians and music educators.

The Fresno Community Chorus Master Chorale performs with its full membership. As required by performance repertoire, additionally auditioned chorus members form the Coro Piccolo ensemble choir.

For more information, contact Hamre or Celeste DeMonte at 559.908.2736.
