Cynthia Teniente-Matson, Fresno State’s vice president for Administration and chief financial officer, is the 2010-11 chair of the Board of Directors of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO).

She assumed her duties Aug. 1.

NACUBO members represent more than 2,500 colleges, universities and higher-education service providers across the country and around the world. It specifically represents chief business and financial officers through advocacy efforts, community service and professional development activities.

The association’s mission is to advance the economic viability and business practices of higher education institutions in fulfillment of their academic missions.

“In these challenging economic times, NACUBO’s public policy advocacy role is critical to represent and advance important administrative initiatives for those of us in higher education,” Matson said.

“NACUBO is a thought-leader, which provides quality professional development for business officers, particularly in current issues and technical competencies necessary for higher education administrators,” she said

Matson joined Fresno State in 2004 and serves as chief business officer for the university and its six auxiliary corporations. She led the campuswide development of the university’s 2006-07 comprehensive master plan and is instrumental in numerous community partnerships that help the region and the campus advance its initiatives.

As head of Fresno State’s Division of Administrative Services, she oversees Auxiliary Services, Campus Information Systems, Facilities Management, Financial Services, Human Resources, Information Technology Services and Risk Management and Public Safety.

An active member of the Western Association of College and University Business Officers, Matson served as its board chair in 2008-09 and has chaired the finance, program and institute committees.
