Darwin Days will be observed at California State University, Fresno through Saturday, Feb. 12, beginning with a presentation on “How to Build the Beak of a Finch,” at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at the Vintage Room within the University Center.

Hosted by the Tri-Beta Biology Club, Darwin Days, brings interactive activities to campus to familiarize students with biology concepts using a fun twist while honoring Charles Darwin, whose “On the Origin of Species” was a biology milestone. The week culminate with a hike along the San Joaquin River Trail on Darwin’s birthday, Saturday, Feb .12.

An art competition is under way and a panel discussion, “Evolution and Science Education in Schools,” will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at Science II, Room 109

Activities such as fossil and twin tortoises games, and Darwin trivia will take place throughout the week in front of the University Student Union from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Dr. Paul Crosbie will present “The Darwin Hour” at noon Wednesday, Feb. 9 in the Free Speech Area on campus.

To participate in the hike, led by Drs. Fred Schreiber and Madhusudan Katti, reservations must be made by Thursday, Feb. 10 by contacting the Biology Club at csufbiologyclub@gmail.com or Schreiber at freds@csufresno.edu.
