“Welcome,” the award-winning 2009 box office success in its native France, will kick off California State University, Fresno’s student-run CineCulture Club spring film series at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, in McLane Hall, Room 121.

The weekly series screens six acclaimed films and offers post-screening discussion at no charge. CineCulture is open to the general public.

“Welcome,” was awarded the Ecumenical Jury Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival; named Best Film at the 2010 Lumière Awards in Paris and received 10 César (the “French Oscars”) nominations including Best Director (Philippe Lioret) and Best Film.

After the film, Fresno State professor, Rose Marie Kuhn, will lead a discussion focusing on the cultural aspects of “Welcome”.
