Karen Ross, Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture, will be at California State University, Fresno to speak at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 20, about challenges facing agriculture.

She was invited by Fresno State’s Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology to discuss “California Agricultural Vision 2030,” covering such issues as regulations, water supplies, urbanization and climate change.

She will speak at the Leon S. and Pete P. Peters Educational Center in the Student Recreation Center (corner of Shaw and Woodrow avenues).

Dr. Charles Boyer, dean of the Jordan College, said the presentation is one of several events during March held as part of the college’s celebration of Fresno State’s Centennial.

Other Jordan College Centennial events include screening the film “Symphony of the Soil” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at the Satellite Student Union with director Deborah Koons Garcia; an exhibit, “Celebrating Agriculture with the Arts,”  in  the Leon S. Peters Ellipse Gallery of the Henry Madden Library through March 30; and several special releases of student produced food.
