This week at Fresno State there’ll be plenty of opportunities to get your fingers snappin’ and your feet tappin’… in a nice air-conditioned environment.

Personally, I’m super excited about the Zumba class offered at the Student Rec Center. Grab your friends and prepare to shake it.

CSU Summer Arts performances continue to dazzle audiences and there are six opportunities this week to check out some serious talent right in our own backyard.

Here’s a quick and dirty list of what’s happening on campus this week. Click on the hyperlinked words for more details about the event.

  • Globetrotting: Doesn’t traveling to Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Panama, or Italy sound fabulous? The Division of Continuing and Global Education is hosting a slide preview of their 2012 travel study programs. Don’t miss the boat on this one. 4 p.m.

  • Dog Day: Bulldog alert! Fresh Bulldogs will take over campus from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Be sure to point out all the air conditioned spots on campus, they’ll need it in this heat!

  • Reach for the brass ring: Fresno State’s rare carousel animal exhibit will open at 8 a.m. and will run until August 31. The exhibit is open during library hours and admission is free. Tempting as it may be, these animals are precious works of fine art and we’re not allowed to touch or ride them.

Saturday, July 16

  • Dancing + fitness = awesome: Did you know the Rec Center offers ZUMBA classes to the public for $5 on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m.? Well, they do and I expect to see you there.
  • Theatre: Don’t miss the comedy Voice Lessons by Justin Tanner who reunites the cast that originated the play in Los Angeles – Emmy Award winner Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne), French Stewart (3rd Rock from the Sun), and Maile Flanagan. 7 p.m.

Sunday, July 17
