Eight lavishly decorated Christmas trees are on display for the entire community to see at the Leon S. Peters Ellipse Gallery on the second floor of the Henry Madden Library at Fresno State, created by floral designers to depict “A Storybook Christmas.”

For many years, similar trees were on exhibit each winter holiday season at the Metropolitan Museum in downtown Fresno, before it closed in early 2010. The Saint Agnes Medical Center  Foundation has revived it, though, collaborating with the Madden Library to present the trees in a suitable setting with great accessibility to the public.

Two of the trees were decorated by the student-staffed Fresno State Floral Laboratory – “Bulldog Christmas,” adorned with Fresno State mascot toys and other Bulldog items, and “Holly, Jolly Christmas,” which is a more traditional, colorful tribute to the season.

Perhaps the least traditional tree is “Winter Wonderland,” rendered in black, white and silver, while “Rejoice, He’s Here” is decorated with a crèche depicting the traditional birth of Jesus scene.

Children of all ages will appreciate the “PBS Kids” tree, where you’ll find characters from “Sesame Street” and other TV shows.

The exhibition is open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. through Friday, Dec. 16. There is no charge for admission.

The trees will be auctioned the next evening during the Saint Agnes Physicians Ball at the library to benefit programs and services at the medical center.
